Aims of Tibberton Early Years

To recognise and respect the importance of play in children’s lives.
To extend and develop children’s language, communication, social, emotional and physical skills  
To respect that parents are the child's first educators
To involve and support families valuing and respecting their home backgrounds
To promote a healthy life style.


Pre-school is often the first time that a child has left their parent for a substantial length of time. Our pre-school aims to make this first adventure into the world of education as fun and easy as possible for both parent and child. When a child starts with us we aim to get to know them through home visits or initial visits to the group accompanied by their parents. Each child has a key worker who will get to know all about their interests, likes and dislikes.

The Curriculum

Our activities centre around the needs of the individual children and our staff are trained to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. This recognises that young children need to learn through constructive play and will learn best when their interests are catered for - our staff's careful planning means that children are offered experiences that allow them to learn and develop across all areas of the curriculum and that children are encouraged to learn and play in a variety of ways.
We keep a observational diary of each child's progress and development which are shared with home on a daily basis.
We maintain close links with Tibberton Community Primary School and other primary schools which helps to make the move up to school as smooth as possible for the children. We also work in with Tibberton & Taynton Under Fives who use the building for a drop-in Family Time session on a Tuesday afternoon.


Tibberton Early Years offers a happy, safe, stimulating and caring environment for learning through play. The children spend lots of time outside exploring the environment and learning through nature and physical play.
Inside, the excellent resources allow the children to enjoy a wide variety of creative art activities, music time, story time, games, role play and cooking. The children are encouraged to make early learning steps like recognising and starting to write their names, counting, recognising shapes etc. The children are encouraged to socialise with other children and to develop their social skills through sharing, taking turns, playing games in groups and above all enjoying themselves.
They begin to learn about the importance of healthy eating and basic hygiene and take responsibility for helping tidy up and often make their own snacks.

The children are involved in the wider community. They enjoy visits from local people and trips out within the local area.

For parents and carers our pre-school offers many opportunities to find support and make new friends while being actively involved in their child's development. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the running of the setting through a Parents Forum and get to know other parents through social fundraising events.
